着付け小物
Kimono Accessories

Wearing a kimono in a traditional style involves more than just the outer garment—it requires specific accessories to ensure a proper fit and graceful silhouette. Essential kitsuke (kimono dressing) items include items like koshihimo (thin ties used to secure the kimono layers),  juban (a lightweight undergarment that protects the kimono from sweat and wear), as well as obi-ita to keep the obi neatly flat. Additional tools such as obimakura (a small cushion for shaping the obi knot) and eri-shin (a stiffener inserted into the kimono collar) also help to achieve a refined and polished look.

Although some of these accessories can be forgone in modern kimono styling, they are indispensable in traditional kimono dressing for both beginners and experienced kimono wearers, ensuring comfort, elegance, and authenticity. Explore our collection below.

Obi

Obi

The obi is the wide sash that secures the kimono, serving as both a functional and decorative element. Our collection features vintage fukuro obi, known for their rich brocade patterns, elaborate embroidery, and shimmering metallic threads. Made of pure silk and measuring up to 4.5 metres long, the fukuro obi is traditionally folded in half lengthwise and wrapped around the waist before being tied into an elegant knot or bow at the back. Whether paired with a semi-formal hōmongi or a formal furisode kimono, these obi showcase the craftsmanship of some of Japan’s most celebrated weaving traditions.

Obijime

帯締め
Obijime

The obijime is a decorative silk cord used to secure the obi knot in place while adding a final accent of color and texture. Worn tied around the middle of the obi, the obijime creates a polished, structured finish while subtly complementing the overall kimono ensemble and securing the obi in place on the back. Our collection also includes vibrant sanbuhimo (three-strand) and nibuhimo (two-strand) obijime varieties, all handwoven from pure silk. From understated pastels to bold jewel tones, these cords are an essential finishing touch for any formal or semi-formal kimono style.

Obiage

帯揚げ
Obiage

A silk obiage is an essential layering piece in kimono dressing, placed over the obimakura (obi pillow) to help shape and support the obi knot. It also adds an extra layer of elegance, with subtle patterns, embroidery, or shibori dye techniques enhancing the overall look. Typically tucked neatly above the obi, the obiage provides a refined transition between the kimono and obi, balancing the composition of the outfit while securing structural elements beneath.
